An Ordinary Guy - An Extraordinary 40 Days
I can honestly say that in my 39 years of life (most of them as a Believer), this is my first Lent. No, in the past Lent came and went without me. I mean that this is the first time I’ve tried to focus on it and make it mean something in my life.
In our Sunday School Class last week we talked about Lent briefly and if anyone was giving up anything. I thought about it and asked for feedback on my idea - to consciously do something I didn’t normally do during Lent rather than find something to give up like caffeine or sugar or something. Some people said they had given up carbonated drinks in past Lenton seasons. I thin k I would be strung out on crack by the end of it if I tried something that drastic.
So, in an effort to honor God and the Lenton season, I have decided to blog every day here on David the Disciple about whatever was going on with me spiritually. I’ve had this blog for about a year and never done anything with it. It became another one of my projects that had a grandiose beginning and fizzled almost immediately.
If I had to word it like most people do when they speak of Lent and what you are giving up, I suppose I am giving up apathy, not studying the Bible enough, and ignoring my spiritual health. Who knows how it will turn out. Hopefully God will use it to make me a better Disciple.
